Last week I met up with Andrew and Danielle for their St Andrews engagement shoot. These sessions are a great way to get to know my couples as we spend some time together chatting about wedding plans while we make some lovely portraits.

Andrew and Danielle are one of my 2014 couples, who have chosen to get married in St Andrews and with neither from the town we took a relaxed walk through St Andrews looking at some possible locations to come back to for some wedding portraits next year.

With Andrew being a keen golfer, of course we had to get at least one shot on the Swilcan Bridge!

Below are a selection of images from their engagement session:

At the beginning of August I was the wedding photographer for John and Lynn’s Old Course Hotel Wedding. The Old Course Hotel is a fantastic venue at any time of the year and, fortunately, one I get to photograph a lot of weddings at.

With everyone travelling to St Andrews for this wedding the celebrations really started the night before with the pre-wedding party at Greyfriar’s Bar, my first chance to get to know a few of the guests. John and Lynn asked if instead of a normal engagement shoot I would take a few photos during the party and display them during the meal on the wedding day, something I was happy to do, even editing the images in to the early hours of the morning!

I left with the party in full swing knowing that there would be a fair few sore heads the following morning and that I had a lot of editing to do to get the images ready for viewing the next day.

The wedding day itself started for me with Lynn at Sophie Butler’s Hairdressing in St Andrews after which, as the guys didn’t want any preparation images I then headed down to the Old Course Hotel to meet up with the bridesmaids in their room.

Weddings at the Old Course Hotel nearly always take place in the Conservatory, a beautiful light and airy space whatever the weather, not that the weather was a problem for this wedding, a little windy for some of the golfers playing in the Ladies British Open on the Old Course apparently but nothing that caused us any problems.

After some very emotive speeches from John and Lynn’s sons, and of course John’s Speech itself the party really got going, with some excellent dancing, particularly Scott and Craig’s duelling Banjo’s routine, they partied well in to the night.

Below are a few images from John and Lynn’s wedding day, feel free to leave a comment if you wish, I always enjoy reading them, as I’m sure the bride and groom do too!

Last Thursday I had the pleasure of photographing Paul and Claire’s very small and intimate wedding at the St Andrews registry office. Accompanied by just their good friends Kenny and Jenny it is the smallest wedding I have ever had to photograph and it was an honour to document their wedding so they had some photographs to show their family and friends.

Below are a few preview images from their lovely secret wedding.

I first met John and Lynn at the beginning of the year to discuss me photographing their Old Course Wedding and we instantly hit if off, they are a truly lovely couple with a great family, and I was looking forward to their wedding as I knew it was going to be a blast!

And I wasn’t wrong, from the pre-wedding party the night before until late in to the night of the wedding day it was a fantastic day, such a great bunch of people and some brilliant dancing to boot, especially the Duelling Banjo’s routine!

Last Sunday I met up with one of my 2014 couples, Greig and Stephanie, for their Engagement Shoot in St Andrews. I offer all my couples the option of one of these engagement, or pre-wedding, sessions when they book me for full day wedding coverage, it serves a couple of purposes:

Firstly it gives the couple some beautiful images to use as they wish, whether that’s to create a signing book or signing frame for their wedding day, to use the images on their save the date cards or invitations or to just print off some nice images for their walls.

Secondly, these pre-wedding sessions allow us all to get to know each other a little, I find it also helps to relax those couples who may be a little nervous or anxious about being in front of the camera.

The engagement sessions are always very relaxed, usually last an hour or so and can take place at various locations, generally somewhere important to the couple or around the area of the wedding venue.

Below are a few images from Greig and Stephanie’s Engagement session:

Some days it’s not about a wedding or a bride and groom!

Earlier this year Greg contacted me to ask if I would be willing to follow him and his group around the Old Course in St Andrews and take photos of them playing golf at the Home of Golf. For some, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit St Andrews and play on the Old Course, and Greg wanted to document their trip.

So yesterday, instead of photographing a wedding, I found myself enjoying a walk around the golf course with Greg and his party.

A great bunch of guys, who managed to find a few bunkers on the way round.

Below are a few frames from the day.

Yesterday saw me in St Andrews for John and Lynn’s Old Course Hotel Wedding. A beautiful day, if a tad breezy at times. So breezy that the golfers playing in the Woman’s British Open halted play! But that didn’t deter us capturing some great images from their wedding.

Below are a couple of preview images from their fantastic Old Course Hotel wedding.

Shanna and John first got in touch with me last year about photographing their Crail Parish Church wedding. The church is in the picturesque fishing village of Crail in the East Neuk of Fife, and the reception was to be held at Kilconquhar Castle Estate, a beautiful setting for a Scottish Wedding.

I don’t think I’ve ever run around between so many different places during a wedding but in the end it’s all in a days work and even in the sweltering heat everyone got to where they were meant to be on time. My day, as it often does, started with Shanna and the girls getting their hair done at True Colours Hairdressers in St Monans. Then a short trip back to Shanna’s mums house in Pittenweem for some bridal preparation shots.

From there a quick trip down the road to John’s family farm near Anstruther to meet with John and his grooms men before John jumped into his beloved tractor for the short journey down to Crail Parish Church.

The weather was amazing all day, with temperatures almost reaching 30 degrees. After the ceremony John, Shanna and myself stopped off in Pittenweem again to grab a few portraits of the happy couple while the rest of the guests made their way to Kilconquhar Castle Estate for the reception.

The day was excellent, the party in the evening was a great laugh with family and friends really getting in to the swing of things and were in great spirits, including making full use of the Justforpix Photo Booth.

Below is a short slideshow and a selection of my favourite images from John and Shanna’s Crail Church and Kilconquhar Castle Wedding, I hope you enjoy looking at them.

Yesterday, on what seemed like the hottest day of the year, I was off to the East Neuk, for John and Shanna’s Kilconquhar Castle Wedding.

A lovely couple, great weather and a brilliant day, below is a preview from their wedding images.

I’ll post more images in a few weeks once the bride and groom have seen them, in the mean time don’t forget to check out the gallery of Photo Booth images over on the Justforpix facebook page.
