Next up in my series of posts on photographing the details at weddings, this time we’re on to the wedding dress.
The dress is an integral part of the day, brides spend a huge amount of time choosing the perfect wedding dress for them, and the dress is one detail of the day that I like to capture several ways throughout the wedding, starting with the dress on it’s own before the bride puts it on, this allows me to be a little creative sometimes photographing the dress in its own setting or staging it in a way that some of the day is caught in the background.
The next stage is generally the tying up or buttoning up of the dress, a key moment that can include the bridesmaids and mother of the bride. This is then closely followed by the father of the bride seeing his daughter in her dress for the first time and as you can imagine this can be quite an emotional moment.
Finally, for the dress, I like to set aside some time to take a few bridal portraits at some point of the day. Below is a selection of wedding dress photos from my recent weddings including shots from all the key moments of the wedding day.
