FAQs

Where are you based and how far will you travel?

I am based in St Andrews, Scotland and I am happy to travel absolutely anywhere in the UK, even the world to photograph your wedding. I do not charge travel expenses for weddings within 50 miles of St Andrews. For UK weddings futher than 50 miles away I charge a per-mile rate of 40p, journeys over 150 miles will also have accommodation charges. International weddings would incurr flight and accommodation costs.

I don’t live in Scotland and won’t be able to come and meet you before the wedding, is that a problem?

Not at all. I have clients from all over the world and emails, phone calls or a meeting on Skype are great ways to discuss your wedding requirements.

How long will you spend at our wedding?

It varies, each wedding is different, some couples want more and some want less but at most weddings I will shoot from two hours before the ceremony right through to the first dance. This way your photographs will tell the story of your whole wedding day, including the pre-ceremony preparations and the post ceremony revellry.

Do you need fed?

I bring my own food and drink and do not require you to supply any. When you sit down for your wedding breakfast I will take my break and have something to eat.

Will you photograph the preparations on morning of the wedding?

Of course, it is your day and I will photograph the morning preparations of the bride or the groom if requested.

What types of album do you offer?

I offer Contemporary Wedding Books which are hardbound coffee table style albums in which the images are printed straight on to the pages in unique layouts designed by me.

Can I choose which images go in to the album and how many?

Yes, your processed images will be available for you to view in an online gallery, you can choose the photos you wish to be included in your album. The wedding book has 40 pages and each page can contain multiple images so there is not really an upper limit. More pages can be added if needed although this would incurr an extra charge.

Can we have digital copies of the photographs?

I give all couples high resolution digital files of every image on CD with my wedding package to print as they wish.

Do we have to use you for printing?
Not at all. But if you do wish to buy your prints through me I can supply prints in various sizes, I use a professional print lab for my printing, they use acid free photographic paper and fade resistant inks for all printing.

Do you take formal shots?

Primarily I work in an unposed, photo-journalistic style, looking for moments as they happen and capturing them without intruding on your wedding day. However I am very happy to take group shots after the ceremony as I am aware how important they are to some couples and their families. I also like to capture a few portrait shots of the bride and groom.

Do you photograph Civil Partnerships?

Yes, a wedding is a wedding, they are all special days in my eyes.
